Philosophically Cold-Blooded Antagonist

by Francis

Exploring the vast anime world, I was sorting some best anime’s of all time for a new adventure in a new world. I encountered this particular anime ‘Psycho Pass’ with a great story plot.

It is a sci-fi series held in Japan. A city guarded by an A.I System known as Sibyl. It examines the mental state of citizens and judges their criminal intent a.k.a Psycho-Pass before any crime has been committed. Cops are assigned under the system as guardians of the city. The spicy upturn in the series rises with the introduction of the antagonist Shougo Makashima, this guy is awesome and cool but cold blooded.

There is this scene where the antagonist recites some paraphrases from Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare while his subordinate murders a little girl, Rikako Oryo (murdered her batch-mates for the sake of art).

And so should I rob my sweet sons of their fee:
No, let them satisfy their lust on thee.
The hunt is up, the morn is bright and grey,
The fields are fragrant and the woods are green:
Uncouple here and let us make a bay
They told me, here, at dead time of the night,
A thousand fiends, a thousand hissing snakes,
Ten thousand swelling toads, as many urchins,
Would make such fearful and confused cries
Listen, fair madam: let it be your glory
To see her tears; but be your heart to them
As unrelenting flint to drops of rain.
So, now go tell, an if thy tongue can speak,
Who ’twas that cut thy tongue and ravish’d thee.
Write down thy mind, bewray thy meaning so,
An if thy stumps will let thee play the scribe.
Her life was beast-like, and devoid of pity;
And, being so, shall have like want of pity.
